Silver Stacking Guide
Find Your Fit. Choose Your Size. Build Your Stack.
Great style doesn't have to be complicated.
At Handsome Calavera, we believe authentic Mexican sterling silver looks even better when you make it your own. Whether you're wearing a single chain, layering multiple necklaces, or stacking bracelets, our system makes it easy to find the right combination.
Forget complicated measurements. We've simplified silver stacking into two essentials: Fit and Size.
- Fit tells you the length of your jewelry.
- Size tells you its width in millimeters.
Once you understand the difference, building your silver stack is simple.
01. How to Stack Silver Chains
Thicker near the neck. Thinner down the chest.
Our approach to chain layering starts with contrast. We recommend wearing your thicker chains closer to the neck and gradually transitioning to thinner chains as the length increases.
This creates a balanced, tapered look that lets every chain stand out without competing for attention.
Step 1: Find Your Chain Fit
Fit determines the length of your chain and where it falls.
| Fit | Length |
|---|---|
| Small | 16–18.5 inches |
| Medium | 19–21.5 inches |
| Large | 22–24.5 inches |
| XL | 25–28.5 inches |
| XXL | 29 inches and longer |
Shorter Fits sit closer to the neck, while longer Fits fall farther down the chest. The exact position depends on your build and the individual chain length, which is listed on each product page.
Step 2: Choose Your Chain Size
Size determines the width of your chain in millimeters.
- Size 01: 1mm wide — subtle and minimal.
- Size 02: 2mm wide — balanced and versatile.
- Size 03: 3mm wide — bold and noticeable.
Higher Size numbers represent wider chains.
Step 3: Build Your Chain Stack
The easiest way to start is by combining two chains with different Fits and Sizes.
The Two-Chain Stack
- Small Fit + Size 03 (3mm)
- Medium Fit + Size 02 (2mm)
A thicker chain sits higher near the neck, while a thinner chain falls below it. Simple, balanced, and easy to wear every day.
The Three-Chain Stack
- Small Fit + Size 03 (3mm)
- Medium Fit + Size 02 (2mm)
- Large Fit + Size 01 (1mm)
Each additional chain creates another layer, gradually moving from bold to subtle as you move down the chest.
The Rule: As Fit increases, Size decreases.
Thicker Up Top. Thinner Down Below. Layer Your Look.
These are styling recommendations, not strict rules. Experiment with different chain designs and proportions to find what looks best on you.

02. How to Stack Silver Bracelets
Same Fit. Different Sizes.
Bracelet stacking works differently from chain layering.
Instead of combining different lengths, we recommend choosing bracelets within the same Fit category and mixing different widths.
This allows you to build a coordinated stack while keeping your bracelets in a consistent length range.
Step 1: Find Your Bracelet Fit
Fit determines your bracelet's length.
| Fit | Length |
|---|---|
| Small | 6.5–7 inches |
| Medium | 7.25–7.75 inches |
| Large | 8–8.5 inches |
Measure your wrist and allow enough room for a comfortable fit. Each product page provides the exact length of the bracelet.
Step 2: Choose Your Bracelet Size
Size determines bracelet width.
- Size 02: 2mm wide — subtle and lightweight in appearance.
- Size 04: 4mm wide — a versatile middle ground.
- Size 06: 6mm wide — a stronger visual presence.
The wider the bracelet, the more noticeable it becomes in your stack.
Step 3: Build Your Bracelet Stack
Unlike chains, you don't need different Fits to create dimension. Keep your Fit consistent and combine different Sizes.
The Two-Bracelet Stack
- Medium Fit + Size 02 (2mm)
- Medium Fit + Size 04 (4mm)
A simple everyday combination that introduces contrast without overwhelming your wrist.
The Three-Bracelet Stack
- Medium Fit + Size 02 (2mm)
- Medium Fit + Size 04 (4mm)
- Medium Fit + Size 06 (6mm)
Three different widths, one Fit category. Each bracelet brings its own dimension to the look.
The Rule: Keep the same Fit. Mix different Sizes.
Same Fit. Different Sizes. Build Your Stack.
You can apply this approach to Small, Medium, or Large Fits. Remember that bracelets within the same Fit category may have slightly different exact lengths.

03. Start Simple. Build Over Time.
You don't need a complete collection to start stacking.
Begin with one piece that fits your everyday style. Add a second chain or bracelet when you're ready for more dimension. Over time, experiment with different Fits, Sizes, and designs.
Some days call for a single silver chain. Others call for three.
The beauty of stacking is that nothing has to stay the same.
Our collections are selected for versatility, giving you the freedom to move between casual streetwear and a more polished look without changing your personal style.
04. Keep Your Silver Looking Its Best
Authentic .925 sterling silver is made to be enjoyed, but a little care goes a long way.
Apply cologne, perfume, and lotions before putting on your jewelry. Allow products to dry before wearing your silver to minimize direct contact.
Remove your jewelry before swimming or exposing it to chlorine and harsh chemicals. Store each piece in a dry pouch when not in use to reduce scratches and tangling.
Natural tarnishing is normal with genuine sterling silver and does not mean your silver is fake. A soft silver polishing cloth can help restore its shine.
05. Real Silver. Your Stack.
Every great stack starts with authentic silver.
Our jewelry is sourced from Taxco, Guerrero, Mexico, through relationships we've built with Mexican jewelry workshops over the years.
Inspired by the silver jewelry we grew up wearing, Handsome Calavera brings timeless Mexican designs into everyday fashion.
No complicated rules. No unnecessary measurements. Just authentic Mexican sterling silver and the freedom to wear it your way.
